Serviut Favius, sat in his bunk house, His ship idly riding the waves as he scoured the sea's for his next victim. The last ship to have been looted by "Flammens Shadow" as he called himself, and his merry band had been one of the few remaining passenger ships still sailing. since the outbreak of the plague, less and less of Pyria's fine Citizens were willing to brave the harsh new frontier of Silvia.
"Cap'n! Cap'n!" came a cry from below. He glance downwards to make out Quintus's face, or what he could see of it anyway, the lad had long black hair that covered most of his face. "Cap'n" he repeated, with a tone of urgency in his voice...a tone that could only mean one thing.
"Well what kind of sport do 'e have tonight?" Serviut growled out, thought his excitement stopped the young deck-hand from answering, as he suddenly rushed off to get a better view of the surrounding sea.
Arriving at the Port Deck he glance around and saw....nothing....nothing at all, the sea's were peaceful and undisturbed. Turning he began looking for that rat of a deck hand who had disturbed him so. Until a glint of something in the sea caught his eye.
His eyes did not believe what they were seeing. There in the sea, floating for all the world as if it belonged there, was a Fox, and not just any fox, the pirates eyes were sharp enough to notice that the Fox's goat was made of Ruby, not many gems mind you, but one single flawless ruby coated Fox, and if that wasn't enough, its tail was litterally on fire, it entire lengthy emitting sparks and flames...in the middle of a ocean!
Hours later, Serviut stood over the motionless body...or maybe corpse...of the ruby haired fox. He didn't know what to think. Legend said that only Three beings ever took the guise of the estemend Fire-Fox, and of those three...none had be seen recently. Yet there could be no denying it here on his very boat lay a Fire-Fox...now it was entirely possible that one of the wild ones had simply ventured out in search of his/her lord and ended up drowning in the ocean...and the more he thought about it...the more likely that theory fit.
Turning to a boy he uttered a few short words...
"Skin it"
Several hour's later upon a floating piece of metal...a shipwrecked looking fox gazed out upon the inferno that was still burning unhidered across the water...it was good to be back.
