The Aeronite Theocracy is a spiritist culture. If an outsider observed them, however, they would seem feudalistic. In reality, they are ruled by homiomorphic dragons.
There are three main people groups. The homiomorphic dragons form a large part of the nobility, and not much else. The humans and dwarves for the middle and lower classes. They live in the mountains, where they mine for precious stones. They trade almost constantly with the larger Terran Kingdom, who are better metal-workers and farmers. Their precious metals and fine crafted gems make fine trading items.
Half-breeds, crosses between humans and dwarves, are quite common, and are stronger and more skilled than humans, but prefer to live among them because of the human side's natural claustrophobia. The dwarves also have unrivaled weaponry* which fetches high prices in the Terran Kingdom.
In the far northern reaches of the Aeronite mountains live more primitive beasts, and on the seaward side of the mountains fishing is rather profitable to humans.
The dwarves live far underground, in amazing structures that would be breath-taking if humans weren't to blind to see them.
The humans live mostly in the valleys of the mountains, rarely reaching to the peaks, which may be as much as four miles high. Here there be palaces and dragons.
Then there are the half dragons, humans who are born without the ability to change into full dragons, but draconic deformities. They may be covered in scales, they may have dragon's legs or tails, they may even have wings to allow them to fly. Originally the illegitimate children of noble dragons and humans, they have banded together and live on mountains that are not inhabited by dwarves or dragons, specifically abandoned dwarf homes, where they hunt to survive. They are scorned by others.
Among the highest Aeronite peaks are sheltered many Monasteries of Raza, sheltered communities of a single gender that have next to no contact with the outside world. Despite this, rumors of holy power trickle as far as Silva, and many a young acolyte of Grangria, or of Vera, or of even one of the three nature sisters goes to join one or the other and gain enlightenment. These reclusive monks have astounding martial techniques that often resemble dances, and they live an almost idyllic life, living off of sheep that roam the mountains and grassy valleys that exists even at such altitutdes. The greatest monastery is the Glaciac Monastery.
*The dwarves, through some twist of fate, can't seem to make anything but weaponry from metal, no matter how hard they try. Their pitchforks, for example, always either come out mishapen or like a trident.
