The seas seem sort of empty. We have dozens of people groups on land, but only the merfolk in the sea. Frankly, they're kind of dull. Why don't we get some more? Does anyone thing this is a good idea? Examples of inspiration animals: Cetacean (Dolphins, whales, etc.)Cnidarian (Jellyfish, corals, etc.)Cephalopod (Octopi, squids, etc.)Pinniped (Seals, walruses, etc.)Siren (Manatees, etc.)EelCartiligenous fish (Sharks, rays, etc.)

And while where out creating new creature, how about some thallids and saprolings?(Thallids are basically animated semi-intellegent funguses, and saprolings are... I'm not sure what saprolings are exactly, but I'm pretty sure their another plant based animal, except they're sort of generated by thallids, and often sacrificed by their makers for various things... *Contemplates running off to the new place board, but remembers it hath been hidden...*)
In the sea... in the sea..... how abouts water elementals? And creature with hive-mind, something composed of millions of little things joined with a single mind, sorta like a sentient being composed of plankton, or other small stuff.
And what about turtle people? (((All hail the great turtle gods...!)))
And could we possibly bring in some sea elves? Forests can't have a paton on guys with pointy ears that like each other more than is natural.
(((Not really helping make anything, just adding more inspiration to the collective mind)))
Plus, has anyone made any normal air breathing people in the oceans yet? I assume that someone in this MI-verse has the tech to build underwater dome cities. Maybe dwarves or someone dug tunnels under the ocean, went up a little too soon, and had too built something to keep the entire ocean from coming in, or wanted a base from which they could research the organisms of the depths.
We could even have a few clans of a species of people that originated as landdwellers, but a few powerful waterbreathing spells somehow became perminent, and the messup wizards and witches became condemmed to a lifesentance of submersion.
Or a couple beings that made Larentia mad, and she cursed them to the depths.
Anyone willing to run with any of this?

We don't want to copy M:tG too much. We already use a lot of their graphics, and we have a multiverse, so...
What? I just like Cephalopods! It's not a crime!
Turtles? Why didn't I think of that? That'd be awesome. They'd be enemies of the Cephalopods, wanting to eat them along with Cndarians. But the Cephalopods, naturally being Veran as well as Larantian, would be powerful users of magic etc.
For Hive Minds, we could use corals, or Man-O-Wars, or both. They'd definitely do that.
Maybe Sand Elves? Merfolk are too much like elves already.
I'll give some thought about the air breathing people and colonies...

This is now an official sub-project -- the Seas Richness Sub-Project (SRS-P). Put that heading on the threads that are for the seas. (That is "[SRS-P]").
