Name of Place: Iledra, The Lost City
Geography: Far below the earth, a city lies forgotten by all, save few. Though lacking in size, Iledra was a very important city. A series of elaborate tunnels give way to a masterpiece of architectural skill. Iledra appears to be one giant palace, made completely out of the marble that it was renown for.
A small lagoon gives them their water supply, fed by a river that snakes down below the earth to reach them. Klecheck was kind enough to supply them with most of their needs, due to reasons explained in their history. Raza provided the Iledranians with a bit of everlasting light, which they kept happily to illuminate their spacious cavern, away from the rest of the mortals.
However, the mortals who lived in Iledra didn't let the two gods do all the work. They were bards, the Iledranians, and they needed their music. When they moved underground, they brought the last of their instruments with them, instruments that have not been heard aboveground for years. They made a separate chamber off of their main cavern for a whole auditorium, shaping it out of the cavern itself. It is their most prized possession, and none but the Iledranians and the immortals have seen it.
No one non-Iledranian has ever found the Lost City, for it is interred so deep that for a time, even some of the immortals had trouble finding it.
Climate: No real weather comes in underground, so the Iledranians normally experience a sunny weather year round. (due to the 'light' Raza gave them.
People Groups/Race: Iledranians are human, but with curiously large ears. Apparently they were distant descendants of elves.... However, these curious oddities actually help them to appreciate their favorite pastime, which is the listening, playing, and creating of music. Many classic songs were made by the Iledranians.
Culture: The Iledranians worship Raza and Klecheck, for their help with the hiding of their city. However, above all else, they praise the demi-god of music, Lanmi. He was the one who gave them their first flutes and lutes, and who inspired in them the will to play.
The Iledranians live under a theocracy, with their chief priest leading them. They praise the gods with three rituals a day; the greeting of the new day (for Raza), the praise of the bounty (for Klecheck), and the ode to the music (for Lanmi). To honor the gods, instead of sacrificing what little they have, they pour out their hearts and souls with the playing of their music. Sweeter music has never been heard, for the Iledranians are blessed with the voices of angels. If someone is lucky enough to catch the few Iledranian nomads who wander aboveground, it is an experience they will never forget.
Current Events: A long time ago, the world was a place abundant with the rich songs of the Iledranians. Iledra was a welcome place to any traveler, and home to many a musician. They even held a university there, to train young Bards.
One day, the chief priest found something marvelous. The whole city of Iledra sat upon the ruins of very pure limestone, which had accidentally metamorphosed when Firia had gotten extremely angry, causing the pressure and heat to focus on the poor limestone. Due to the heat and pressure, the rock had metamorphosed into white marble.
News of the discovery swept the world, and soon, people from all over swarmed to Iledra with their picks and shovels, ready to pick apart the white gold. The bards were horrified at the burglars and bandits that came, ready to steal their stone. They didn't care about the monetary value, they only wanted peace to play their music.
The chief priest desperately prayed to the gods, begging for help. Klecheck helped him, sympathetically offering him a choice: He could leave his people above ground to be subjected to the pleas of outsiders, or be interred beneath the ground, and be without any company save his fellow Iledranians.
The chief hastily agreed, knowing that anything would be better than what was happening. Klecheck followed through, sealing the Iledranians in a tomb-like cavern of marble. She made a series of elaborate tunnels, the likes of which had never been seen. Traps lay everywhere, and only the Iledranians knew how to get in and out.
Raza, too, heard the pleas of the mortals, and he came to help as well. He gave the mortals the gift of the Everlasting Flame, which would serve as their miniature sun; it provided heat and light. Klecheck also provided them with land for farming, animals, and a water source.
When the people came to get the marble, they found that the city had disappeared, along with it's citizens and it's valuable stone. They tried digging to get down to the marble, but they never got deep enough. Many mortals tried to brave the tunnels, but none of them made it.
Now, many centuries later, the Iledranians are becoming restless. Some of them want to go out, and sell the marble, and their songs. Others are traditional, and want to keep the old ways. One thing is for sure....
There is a rebellion growing in Iledra.
